Drew Levin Indicted

Drew Savitch Levin, who was the prototype scumbag and the creative muse for this blog, has been indicted. By the unique mathematics of the American justice system, he is exposed to 200 years in prison. If convicted of all counts, he stands to actually serve up to ten years.

The gov waited so long to bring these charges that they will, in all probability, face some statute of limitations issues, but they have cast their net wide enough that they should be able to get a conviction anyway. We shall see...

The court calendar on his case, which contains a nice review of the charges against him, and is a good place to start if you intend to research his case, is here. Nikki Finke's blog, Deadline Hollywood Daily, has a nice post with better comments here. And you can expect that I will be posting any important updates on Drew's condition right here.

May I state that Drew Levin is the best example of a scumbag I have ever met. Drew deserves whatever the government throws at him. He screwed anyone and everyone who had the bad judgement to befriend him or believe in him. He truly deserves to be listed here as a scumbag, and it is exciting that he was not only the first scumbag to be mentioned here, but he was also the first one to be indicted. Absolute truth is the only legal way to tell these stories, and I stick to it religiously.

First Principles

Right at the outset, let us set forth the basis for this site, what it is about, and what the rules are. First, our raison d'etre is to unmask corporate Scumbags. We have all known professional Scumbags. They are people in a position of authority, either managers or owners of businesses, who abuse and/or steal from whomever has the misfortune to attempt to do business with them. Employees are particularly vulnerable to corporate Scumbags, but any other person or entity with the temerity to attempt to do business with a Scumbag is also in danger. A Scumbag will promise to, and then fail to pay for any item or service that suits his or her fancy. Not due to lack of money, though. Many entrepreneurs who have ever had trouble making a payroll know that it can sometimes be challenging to come up with money that has been promised. But that does not make one a Scumbag. Scumbags live in the lap of luxury, spending the money of others. It is the people around them who suffer.

The most important ground rule is that, in lawsuit-happy America at least, truth is the best and only sure defense from a Scumbag who will attempt to silence a critic by recourse to the courts. In fact, the lawsuit is one of the favorite tools of a Scumbag. Many Scumbags are lawyers as well. Therefore, everything you will read here on this page is the truth. All facts will have been verified and sourced by at least two witnesses who are willing to, and are competent to, testify to these facts in court. Without that, we would be in great danger from the Scumbags that we unmask here. On the other hand, you readers can be certain that everything you read here is true. We guarantee it.

The next ground rule, and the one that makes us unique, is that we always use the real name of the scumbag. No hiding allowed. While we do not intend for anyone to harrass these scumbags, our intention is to allow people to have this resource to consult before attempting to enter into a business relationship with these "people." Not that we expect to be consulted a lot. We expect that most of our readers will come here for the sheer joy of it, for the entertainment or the catharsis. But, as googling prospective employers and customers, suppliers and investors has become common, we expect to become an important reference source of Scumbags that is in such great need, especially in this mine field we call Corporate America.

The next rule is just the opposite. The witnesses, or whistleblowers, who provide the testimony against the Scumbags, have the option to remain anonymous, or to use a public alias on these pages. I will know who they are, and if legal process requires their identity to be revealed, that is part of the deal. They have already agreed to provide legal testimony. But whistleblowers need to be afforded a shield. These people have already been hurt enough by these Scumbags. This site provides them a way to get their own back. It is not to make them subject to scrutiny by the curious. They are the victims of the behavior that we reveal here.

We are looking for serial Scumbags. One-time scumbaggery does not qualify for the Scumbags, Inc. treatment. Real, lifelong Scumbags, Scumbag repeaters, are what this site is all about.

We welcome submissions. While we have a few Scumbags already in mind, we anticipate that we will soon need more of them. Not that they are so very hard to find, but we will definitely need more. We are already in pre-production of Scumbags, Inc. as a reality show, and that means that we will need dozens of Scumbags every year, for as long as the show runs. Email us your Scumbag submissions to scumbagsinc@gmail.com.
